Progreso Day Trip

At 11 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Mérida and head to Progreso. Let's go!

After 40 minutes on the road, we'll arrive in Progreso. Did you know that its full name is Progreso de Castro, in honour of the first person to promote its port? As we walk through the streets, we'll tell you how and why it was founded at the end of the 19th century and its relationship with maritime trade.

We'll stroll along the area around the boardwalk and discuss the city's current situation, as it's an important port for cargo and tourist cruise ships due to the 4-mile (6-kilometre) long quay.

You'll then have around 3 hours of free time to take a relaxing dip in the turquoise water at the white sandy beaches. Paradise! In addition, you can sample the local gastronomy by having lunch at one of the restaurants on the boardwalk.

Having spent 4 hours sightseeing, we'll drop you off back at your hotel in Mérida.
